Burning to be Believed - Chapter One (RoTG Fanfic)

Chapter 1

North was feeling extremely frustrated as he stared at the globe in front of him, with all the lights representing all of the children shining happily.
All seemed normal, but it wasn't, not from North's point of view.
The lights on the globe are decreasing gradually day by day, and he doesn't even know why.
There are no threats to the children, Pitch was still stuck in that deep dark hole, and all the guardians were all doing their usual jobs, even Jack Frost, who was literally just giving snow days and having fun.
So why, why is it that the children had stopped believing.
He looked behind him, at the other guardians, who were all equally worried, except maybe Jack; he was just sitting on the table making snow sculptures.
"What could possibly make kids stop believing in us all of a sudden?" Bunnymund said, stress was evident on his face.
"Maybe kids are just more grownup these days?" Tooth offered.
Sandy was making a correct sign above his head, signaling that he agreed what Tooth said.
"That's not possible!" North rejected the idea, he didn't like the fact that kids have to be mature when they are supposed to just have fun.
Jack was silently listening to 4 of them arguing, so when the moon shone a ray of light down, he was the first one to notice. "Hey guys, look up!"
The 4 senior guardians looked at the moon; it had been a long time since the man in the moon spoke to them after the Boogeyman incident.
North smiled a little at the moon, "My friend! Please tell us what's going on?"
"…"
"What do you mean the kids stopped believing themselves? That's ridiculous!"
"…"
"They have lost the courage to believe? Why? "
"…"
"Because they are afraid that others don't believe in us?" North sighed, children stopped believing because adults who had stopped believing told them so, and they don't have the courage to believe and be out casted as the weird one. "Then what are we supposed to do?"
The moon's ray shone even brighter as it hit the center of the room, and a crystal slowly begin to rise.
"A new guardian? " North exclaimed.
"Oh not this again! Why do we need a new guardian again? I already tolerated Frosty!" Bunnymund complained.
"Hey! You think you're easy to work with?" Jack said.
"I wonder who it'll be!" Tooth was as cheerful as always, happy to be getting a new guardian.
Sandy looked just as excited as he flew higher to get a better view of the image that is appearing above the crystal.
The image above the crystal finally formed and all of them were shocked, this wasn't the guardian they had in mind, even a leprechaun seemed better than this choice.
"Sienna…" North mumbled under his breath, still in shock.
Bunnymund turned and looked at the moon, "This is just nonsense mate! Even Jack was a better option than this! And that's saying something!"
Tooth and Sandy remained silent.
"The grim reaper? Really? How is she gonna make kids believe in us when she most probably will make them cry?" Bunnymund continued his rant.
Jack was looking at the image, a girl with a scythe was standing there. "So she's the rumored grim reaper… I had always assumed it was a guy… you know?"
"Bunny stop"
Bunnymund stopped his complains and looked at North, waiting for his final decision.
North smiled, "The man in the moon said she can help us! So we shall make her a new guardian!"
"B..but.."
"No buts Bunny….the man in the moon is never wrong, and Jack is proof!"
Bunny stared at North hard, "Fine, but I ain't gonna be the messenger this time, mate!"
North laughed, "Ok…ok…hmm….Jack!"
Jack immediately got down from the table he was sitting on.
"You go and bring her here!"
"What! Why me? I don't think I'm a good choice to persuade people here"
"Ok then…Sandy! You go with Jack!"
Sandy just pointed at himself as a question mark formed above his head.
"Its settled! Now off you two!"
Sienna swung her scythe around as a light fire slowly surrounds the environment. The flame quickly disappeared as it came, taking life away with it as the leaves on the tress because orange, red and brown colors, signaling to all the start of autumn.
As she was about to turn and leave, Jack and Sandy landed in front of her.
"Hey!" Jack greeted her.
Sandy just waved at her.
"Hii…" Sienna said. "What are you two doing here; it isn't the time of day or the right season for you two to show up…"
"Hey hey…I show up anytime I want! Right Sandy?" Sandy just nodded his head in agreement.
"Whatever… What do you guys want?"
"We need you to come down to the North Pole a bit."
"Why? I still have a few places to turn autumn to, you know."
"North wants to meet you."
"Santa wants to…what the hell for? I didn't do anything too bad recently!"
"No…no." Jack chuckled. "It's a long story, we'll explain it when we get there." Jack summoned the wind and floated himself up, Sandy followed. "C'mon! Skipping out a day won't make a difference."
Sienna sighed, "Fine. But if the equilibrium of seasons gets fucked up you guys are at fault."
Jack chuckled and started to fly away as Sienna's scythe started to produce fire, she sat on it and soon she was right beside jack flying across the world to the North Pole.

Hate at First Sight - Chapter Three

Chapter 3

That evening, I turned my wardrobe inside out trying to find at least a decent dress for the night. I didn’t have many dresses, since I always preferred jeans or pants. Then I remembered something. Before I left for school, my mum handed me a box and told me to open it only for emergencies. And right now this is an emergency. I pulled out the box from under the bed and opened it, inside was a blue and white dress with laces at just the right places and sequins to give it a classy look. I held the dress in my hand, it looked really beautiful. I immediately changed into it. It must have been tailored made, for the dress fits perfectly with my figure.
I stared at the tall mirror, sure the dress looks good on me, but without makeup or a good hairstyle, it just doesn’t feel right. Just then, someone knocked on my door. I looked through the peephole; it was Haruki and a girl. I opened the door for them, but before I could say anything, Haruki was already talking.
“Mi-chan, the dress is gorgeous!” Haruki chirped, “Though we got to get your hair done first.”
After that, Haruki pushed me onto the bed and started pulling and tying and clipping my hair while introducing the girl that was sitting beside her, handing her the items she needed.
“This is Kido Michiko; she’s also a special student. The number two in the whole school,” then she turned to Michiko and said, “She’s Teshigawara Nozomi, you’ll like her, she’s hilarious and has a very cool fashion sense!”
Michiko smiled and said “Pleasure to meet you. I hope we can be friends.”
I immediately returned the smile, “Yeah, nice to meet you too.”
“Mi-chan, could you take off your glasses? I’m going to start with the makeup now.” Haruki said, so I took my glasses off and placed it on the table beside the bed.
After Haruki was done with my makeup, she stood in front of me, obviously satisfied with how I look. “You look absolutely stunning! Doesn’t she Ko-chan?” Michiko nodded with agreement.
I was about to put my glasses back on when Haruki reached out and grabbed them from me. “Don’t wear your glasses, Mi-chan. You’ll ruin the makeup and all my hard work! Don’t you have contact lens?”
I nodded and pointed to the dressing table. I always hated wearing contacts, they’re kind of uncomfortable and they make my eyes tired easily. That’s the reason why I always wear glasses, even though sometimes it’s inconvenient. But Haruki was right; wearing glasses while having makeup on will be like not having makeup on, totally ruining the effect. I stood up to walk to the mirror.
Michiko handed me my contacts when I reached the dressing table. I stared at myself in the mirror, even though I could barely make out my image. Wearing contacts has always been the hardest part for me, sometimes it goes in without any trouble, sometimes it just refuses to enter my eye. Luckily tonight, my contacts slipped into my eyes easily. I silently thanked God. It would be too embarrassing in front of my new friends if I couldn’t even wear contacts the right way.
After I adjusted the contacts, I slowly looked up to see my reflection. A pretty girl with wavy hair was staring back at me with an astounded look on her face. Is that really me? I just couldn’t believe it. Haruki saw my shocked look and chirped happily, “You can thank me later, because right now we’re going to be late if we don’t rush.” Michiko then grabbed me by the arm and pulled me towards the door while Haruki took my bag from the bed and locked the door with my keys.
We entered the elevator as soon as the doors opened wide enough for us to enter, but before the doors could close back, a hand reached out and grabbed the side of doors, the doors automatically opened again and before our eyes. A guy with short brown highlighted hair stood. He was wearing a black tuxedo and looked absolutely hot! I couldn’t help but drew in a breath and stared. Just then Haruki lunged forward and hugged him right there and then as the elevator door closed behind them. Michiko and I just stood there, unsure of what to do.
“Kimura, you look just amazing!” and Haruki released her hug. She smiled at him and pulled him towards us. Michiko finally realizing who it was, came to her senses and greeted Kimura. “Wow! Nice tuxedo!” she complimented. Kimura blushed lightly and patted his tuxedo. “Thanks, Haruki chose it!” then he looked at me, from head to toe, as if inspecting me and broke into a wide grin. “You look great, Nozomi!” It was only after I heard my name did my brain start functioning again. “Err…thanks. You look great yourself!”
We reached the school hall just in time, the music was blaring so loudly that my eardrums was going to burst! The dance floor was already full of people dancing and chatting, so the party had begun long before the reason for the party arrived, which was somehow a relief because now I can slip into the party unnoticed. I looked around the school hall, Haruki and Kimura was already dancing on the dance floor and Michiko was trying to avoid a group of boys that were coming on to her. Then my eyes stopped at the middle of the dance floor. A totally hot guy was standing there and he was surrounded by a group of girls that were trying to ask him to dance with them. He wore a white tuxedo and his hair was ruffled to give it a casual but formal look. His light brown eyes sparkled when the spotlight hit him. Gawd! Was he gorgeous! And then my blood froze when he started to look up. He stared at my direction for a few moments and started to walk towards me. He was just a few meters away when he casually said ‘hi!’, like it was no big deal. I turned my head back and looked to see if there’s anyone behind me. Because this hot gorgeous guy couldn’t possibly have noticed me. I checked every direction; there was no one except me. When I turned my head back to face him, my eyes caught his eyes and we just stared at each other. The sound of loud music seemed further away and it felt like we were in our own world and not in a crowded school hall.
“Hey, are you going to be silent for the whole party? It’s bad enough that I’m the one who came talking to you,” he said and smiled a cheeky smile.
My face went red in an instant. “No…no…it’s just that I thought you were talking to someone else…”
“Why would I be talking to someone else when a beautiful girl is standing here?” he said, his face had a slight blush. “Anyway…want to dance?”
I stopped myself from screaming out a ‘YES’ and squealing like a crazed fan girl. I put on my ‘I’m thinking about it’ face and after a few seconds, I smiled and said yes. His face immediately lit up and he held out his hand in a very gentlemanly way. I slowly placed my hand on his and he guided me to the dance floor. Along the way we passed the group of fan girls and I felt their eyes throwing daggers at me. I silently cheered for myself.
We reached the middle of the dance floor when the rock music stopped and a slow music started playing. He smiled and seemed to like the sudden change of music. His hand slipped through my arms and I shivered a bit when he placed his hand on my waist. I slowly placed my hand on his shoulder and we started to dance. All through the dance we were staring at each other’s eyes. After the dance, he whispered in my ear and said he wanted to dance with me again. But of course, I had to play the hard-to-get game first, can’t always give boys what they want.
“But…there are plenty of girls waiting to dance with you,” I said.
He shrugged a little and said, “They’ll live. But for now, I want to dance with you again.”
“But I don’t even know your name…”
“Then I’ll introduce myself. My name is Sakamoto Ryuichi.”
And with that I froze. Impossible! That jerk-face was this hot gorgeous guy!? At first I felt depressed, then I felt angry at him, but more at myself, how could I have dance with that jerk-face! I clenched my fist and turned to leave when Ryuichi grabbed my hand. “Wait! You haven’t told me your name.”
I took a deep breath and without looking at him pulled my hand from his grip and said, “Take a hike!” and walked away proudly. Ryuichi was still standing there, unsure what he’d done to get such an insult. But his mind was already made up. He’ll find out whoever she was, one way or another.

Hate at First Sight - Chapter Two

Chapter 2

On Monday morning, I threw on my new uniform and gazed at the tall mirror in front of me in my room. The uniform fits perfectly with my figure and the shoes were just so damn comfortable! Then the problem arises, what hairstyle am I supposed to wear? According to the guide, you can wear whatever hairstyle you like, so different than all the public schools I went where you have to tie your hair up into a ponytail. I finally decided to just let my hair down, which in my opinion, looked quite good on me. I was tired of tying my hair all the time anyway; only when I’m working do I tie my hair up for convenience.
Entering the school hall, I walked to the front of the hall, where all the special students sat. There were six seats in the row, and were starkly contrasting compared to the seats the regular students have to sit. The reason-they have armrests and cup-holders. I sat at the end of the row while the rest of the special students sat together at the other end, happily chatting with the jerk-face. I did all I could to squeeze myself into the seat, trying to disappear into the soft cushions. For the whole assembly, I was tugging my hair so that it will cover my face. It was only when assembly was finally over and they all left that I could relax. It wasn’t that I was embarrassed or scared, but just the thought of talking to jerk-face makes me want to puke. Before leaving, I noticed that the chair I was sitting had a cup in the cup holder, so I took a sip since I was thirsty after all that work of disappearing into my chair. The drink was grape soda, my favorite. I walked to the other rows and checked their cups, they were all different drinks. It was then I realized that those random questions in the quiz on the internet were to find out what the student like best, like what drinks they prefer to have or what color do they like their PDA to be. Mine was silvery white, my favorite color. Again I thought how dumb I was to not notice such things as I left the hall to go to my class, wondering why it doesn’t surprise me at all.
The class I was in was actually for students aged 17, but apparently I was able to skip a grade, so I was the only sixteen year old in the whole class. I took a seat at the first row, wanting to maintain my grades even though I was the youngest was not going to be easy, so sitting in the front will definitely help because I wouldn’t be distracted.
Jerk-face entered the class with his arm around a girl, typical playboy style. He and the girl took a seat behind me, both of them didn’t even glance my way, which was somehow a relief. It seems to me that he doesn’t recognize me due to the fact I tied my hair when I made the delivery to him. A lot of my friends say I look like two different persons when I tie my hair and let down my hair, so thank gawd I decided to let my hair down during school hours, or I’ll be totally humiliated for life!
The rest of the day passed without a hitch, until I returned to the dorm. After exiting the elevator, I met one of the special students, the number one in the whole academy- Murakami Haruki. Just by looking at her, you’ll know that she’ll never leave her room without looking fashionable and reasonably pretty. She’s got silky long brown hair, slender arms and legs and a really good figure to match. She was the one who stopped me at my tracks and started a conversation; we became friends in an instant.
“Mi-chan, I love your bracelet! Where did you buy it?” Haruki chirped, her glossy lips curled up into a smile, her white teeth glistened under the dorms' chandelier lights.
“Err…just the ordinary supermarket, I guess…” I said, trying to hide the fact that I’ve completely forgotten where I bought it. Haruki seemed impressed, “Wow, I can’t believe that you can find such a cool bracelet at an ordinary store! You’ve got to bring me there someday!” she happily said. I just nodded my head lightly, thinking that tonight I’m going to have a headache remembering the store. But the next question she asked made my blood froze.
“Do you know who’s living in room A-01? He’s the MVP of the school!”
I faked a laugh, “Really? Who’s that?”
Haruki immediately stopped walking and turned to me, with an astonished look on her face as she said, “You don’t know? I thought he was in your class. He’s the number 1 player in the school- Sakamoto Ryuichi!”
Almost immediately after hearing his name, my body tensed as I clenched my fist hard. I had to pretend I don’t know, “Ha…sounds like a real jerk!”
Haruki shook her head lightly, “It may seem that way, but Ryu-kun is an okay guy. He’s just loves to flirt and and…well, you get the point. He’s a nice guy to hang out with as friends.”
I unclenched and clenched my fist again, “Maybe, but I doubt it.”
Haruki laughed and patted me on the back, “Don’t worry, I’m sure once you’ve met him, you’ll definitely like him.”
This time I couldn’t stand it anymore so I snapped, “I’ll never in a million years even think of liking him, much less than liking him for real!”
Haruki looked shocked, “But I thought you never met him before. Then how do you know you’ll hate him?”
“I…err…I just don’t like guys like him, that’s all.” I mumbled.
“Well, I hope that it will soon change, he’s really quite nice.” Haruki explained how he helped her on her first day of school and other things she thought were actions of kindness.
“Are you sure he wasn’t coming on to you?” I said with sarcastic tone.
Haruki laughed again, “Not to worry. I made sure I told him I wasn’t interested in him. And besides, I already have a boyfriend.”
This time I was the one being shocked, “You have a boyfriend?”
“Oh sure! He’s also one of the special students. His room is just down this hallway, I’m sure he’ll love to meet you,” and with that she pulled me by the arm and we started walking again.
Reaching A-03, Haruki knocked on the door. Then she fished out a key out of her pocket and opened the door. She was about to enter the room when I panicked and stopped her. “Is it okay to enter like this?”
“Don’t worry, he’s my boyfriend. I have the right to do so. He’s used to it anyway,” and she pulled me into the room with her.
The room was pretty much the same as mine, except for the fact that the room had posters and pictures of race cars, football players and game characters pasted all over the walls. The shelf was filled with CDs and books, and the bed had clothes on them.
“Sorry about the mess, you know boys. They just don’t know how to keep a room clean.” Haruki apologized.
I shook my head, “No, it’s not messy. For a boy, he’s quite tidy. You should see my cousin’s room, it smells of leftover pizza!”
Just when we were chatting about cousins and their uncleanness, a boy walked out of the bathroom. He had a towel over his lower part of the body (thank gawd), and a cookie in his mouth. “Yo!” he happily greeted us, as if it was no big deal that he was half naked in front of two girls.
“Mi-chan, this is my boyfriend, his name is Takuya Kimura.” Haruki introduced. “Kimura, this is Teshigawara Nozomi.”
Oh, the new special student! Nice to meet you,” Kimura said. “I’ve read about you!”
“Read?” I asked, confused. I looked at Haruki, she smiled gently as she explained. “The guide in the PDA updates every day, so we pretty much know you were coming for like two weeks or so.”
Damn, I wasted my energy the whole day trying to be invisible. “Wow, I’m surprised there wasn’t a welcoming party.”
“There is, it’s tonight,” then Kimura slapped his mouth. “Dang, did I just say that out loud?”
Haruki looked annoyed as she said “It was supposed to a SURPRISE party, but not anymore…” then she turned to me, “Just try to look surprised tonight. We worked real hard trying to put it together for you.”
“Err…okay,” I agreed half-heartedly. I was never good at acting, so deep down I hoped I can pull it off tonight.

Hate at First Sight - Chapter One

Chapter 1

A week before school started, I have already packed my bags and was off to study (and live) in my new school, in a limousine! As soon as I reached the school, I was stunned by the scenery outside the window. It was even more beautiful than the pictures in the website. The trees and grass were lush and green, there were a variety of flowers to enjoy, and the school was absolutely spectacular to look at! White marble walls with stones of different colors as the pavement, surrounding the enormous building were more trees and behind it, a different pathway leading towards the dorms. The driver told me to report myself to the teachers in charge first and lead me to the office. The teachers seem delighted to see me though I doubted it. Not with my blackish brown (but recently high-lighted) hair, simple green T-shirt and jeans, not to mention a pair of glasses! The teacher in charge of the student body handed me my schedule and books, keys to my room, and (I can’t believe it) my own PDA! I was totally stunned and speechless. The teacher must have seen my shocked look because she kindly explained that the PDA was for all the students studying in this school but it will only operate in the school compound. After that she reminded me to go to the school’s tailor shop to get measured for my new school uniform. The tailor shop was located in the shopping district of the school. The school was specifically designed to ensure the students can buy what they needed without going to town. I thanked her and the other teachers and closed the door.
I made my way to my dorm using the pathway behind the school. I was now thankful that the school provides a PDA (which has a GPS system), because I could seriously get lost with my lousy sense of direction. There were four dorms in the school. Dorm B, C and D were for ages sixteen, seventeen and eighteen respectively, while Dorm A was for the special students. The special students were the top 3 students, the most popular student and the MVP (Most Voted Player) of the school. I was living in dorm A because I was the first non-rich scholarship student (I found this out with my ‘Sakura Academy’s Guide to Everything’ button on my PDA).
The room I was assigned to was on the same floor as the other special students’ rooms. As soon as I turned the key, I was again stunned by the sight of my room. There was a king-sized bed on the right, a huge dressing table on the left and a balcony with a view that can take your breath away. I placed my suitcase on the bed and started rearranging my clothes in the humongous wardrobe. After that, I checked out the bathroom that was located at the end of the room. There was a bathtub, which also doubles as a Jacuzzi, a sink and a cupboard filled with imported shampoos and soaps.
Leaving my room, I decided to go to the tailor shop to get my uniform done before school starts. The shopping district was really empty, almost like a deserted town. While the tailor measured me, I asked him why the district was so empty. He stared at me like I’m from another planet and replied “This is a rich school. You expect the students to come to buy their own stuff? We have to deliver it to them!”
At this I was absolutely dumb-founded. Damn, I’m so stupid! Well duh, of course they aren’t going to shop for themselves! I thought. Suddenly I pitied the tailor, he has to make and deliver all those uniforms. Then I thought of a brilliant idea to make a few extra cash, I asked the tailor if he would hire me to deliver all those uniforms, in return he pays me every month. He delightedly accepted my offer and after finishing measuring me, he gave me my first job, to deliver a male’s uniform to Dorm A, room A-01. At this, I knew where to go immediately and grabbed the uniform to start my first delivery. I thanked the tailor before I left the shop.
Reaching the room, I gently knocked on the door but there was no reply. I tried knocking again but got nothing. Then I tried the door knob, it was unlocked so I pushed the door opened. There, in front of my eyes, a boy and a girl were on the bed, with only a blanket covering them. The girl didn’t seem to notice me but the boy stared at me like I was some kind of extinct animal. As quickly as my hand could reach them, I took off my glasses to save my brain from anymore nightmares that might haunt me for the next 30 years of my life. Though now with a half-functioning brain, I heard the guy said “Could you leave now? We can continue this tonight. Okay, my dear?” Then I heard a shuffled sound like someone moving out of bed and then the girl I saw moved passed me and was gone. Even though I wasn’t wearing my glasses, I could make out the blurred image of the guy walking towards me. He placed his right hand beside my head against the wall and said “So, you like to see people doing it huh?”
“Excuse me! But I was only delivering your uniform; I have no interest in what you do with your anatomy!” I snapped at him, pissed that I was the one being called a pervert here.
The guy chuckled and said “Ooo…that hurts so much coming from a girl!” and he placed his left hand on his chest.
I immediately looked away and said “Are you wearing anything at all?” and I shifted uncomfortably, trying to get as far as possible.
He started laughing and whispered softly in my ear, “What do you think?” At this I blushed lightly and pushed him away, then I handed him his uniform, “Wear it so I can get back to work!”
“Hmm….you’re no fun,” and he took the uniform from my hand and entered the bathroom to change. I let out a sigh of relief and put my glasses back on. Right now I was thankful that I’m short-sighted.
The guy walked out a minute later and smiled a cunning smile. The kind of smile where one part of your lips curls up and shows some of your teeth while the other part of your lips are closed. He started to walk towards me and I couldn’t help but thought he looked really good in his uniform, and then I shivered at the thought. I quickly took out the measuring tape from my pocket and started measuring him, all the while trying to avoid his gaze. After that I handed him a form to sign and left in a hurry. Before I reached the elevator he yelled, “Come again tonight if you want to see the whole show!” and laughed loudly as he closed the door.
While I was walking back to the tailor shop, I was freaking furious! Best school in Japan? My ass! And he’s supposed to be a special student as well? Gawd, what has the world become!? I thought while kicking every stone in my path. The tailor told me to come by the following day to collect my uniform and said he’ll call me if he needs me to deliver anything again when I returned the form to him. I faked a smile and said goodbye to him.
Back in my room, I was lying on my bed while staring at the ceiling. I couldn’t sleep after that incident so I reached out and grabbed the PDA that was on the table beside the bed. I randomly fiddled with the buttons till I got the guide again. Bored, I started reading about the school history and such. Then a title in one of the columns got my attention. It was about Dorm A and all the special students living there! Apparently, there were five students living in Dorm A, that’s until I moved in, which makes it six now. There were two girls and three boys. The girls and one of the boys were the top 3 students, one boy was the most popular student and…
I froze as I looked at the picture in my PDA screen, that jerk-face was the MVP of the school! How could the most voted player be him!? I thought. Then I realized something, most voted player can also mean most voted playboy! (Player = playboy when you think about it). Oh my gawd! My head screamed. Man I’m stupid! Well duh, of course he’s the MVP of the school, the incident this afternoon already proved my case! With disgust I closed the guide and placed it back on the table, all the while praying I don’t get nightmares that night.

Hate at First Sight - Prologue

Prologue

It was around exam break when I saw that website. I could have just ignored it but I didn’t. I was surfing the net to check out high schools in Japan. Of course, like most teenagers, I randomly typed ‘number 1 high school in Japan’ in Google, just to find out how it looks like and such. A link popped up on my screen with the words ‘Sakura Academy. The best school in Japan- equipped with all the facilities you need…’ Curious, I clicked on it, expecting to see the usual brick wall, rusty fences and dying tress kind of school, instead, the image I saw almost made me fell off my chair. There, on my screen, was the most amazing and beautiful school I have ever seen. The dorms were beautiful and there was a garden, lake and even a clock tower! I slowly scrolled down the page and an advertisement of the school came into view. The school was inviting average junior high school students to submit their results through e-mail or fax, play a little quiz and the winner will get to study and live in that school, all with a scholarship! The aim for this advertisement is to attract non-rich students to the school, for practically 90% of the students there are rich.
After I finally received my final exam results and graduated from junior high, I immediately emailed my results to the school. Of course, I wasn’t expecting that I would win, but there was that one in a million chances that I could win, so what the heck! I played the quiz, which was seriously random because the questions were ‘What drinks do you like?’ or ‘What is your favorite color?’ and such. Still, I answered all of them anyway. The next week when I signed in to my email, I received an email from the school saying I was chosen and would be attending school the next semester! This time I really did fell of my chair and ran down the stairs with a printed copy of the email in my hand to show it to my parents. They couldn’t believe it either but encouraged me to go because they were convinced it was my results that were the reason the school had chosen me to study there. Truth to be told, compared to the other students in my last school, I was considered to be one of the top ten students. And because of my ability to memorize anything within five minutes, some of them think I’m a genius! But what they don’t know is that I have absolutely no sense of direction (unless I’ve been to the same place many times), and have no long term memory (for things that don’t interest me anyway), sucks isn’t it?
